EMP501 Final Submission: A Practical Step-by-Step Guide for Employers Course
Product Details

Did you know your EMP501 Annual Reconciliation Submission to SARS is due by 31 May? Not sure where to start?

The course explains the process in a simple, step-by-step way so that you can complete your annual employer reconciliation correctly, avoid common submission errors, and remain compliant with SARS requirements.

We also show you how to prepare and submit employee tax certificate information using the correct SARS channels. SARS requires these submissions to be done electronically, and manual posted EMP501 submissions are no longer accepted.

Topics Discussed:

  • What is the EMP501 submission?
  • The EMP501 Employer Reconciliation Declaration is the employer’s reconciliation of:
    • The EMP201 monthly declarations submitted to SARS,
    • The payments actually made to SARS, excluding penalties and interest, and
    • The IRP5/IT3(a) employee tax certificates issued for the relevant period
  • SARS requires employers to submit an EMP501 twice each year:
    • Interim reconciliation for the period 1 March to 31 August
    • Annual reconciliation for the full tax year 1 March to 28/29 February

The filing season runs from 1 April to 31 May. SARS has also introduced a stricter rule for this reconciliation period: where an employee is required to have an Income Tax Reference Number, the submission will not be accepted without it.

This webinar is designed for accountants, bookkeepers, payroll administrators, business owners, admin staff, and anyone with little or no experience in the EMP501 process.
